Aurum of London / Pop-Up Shop

Earlier this year myself and 4 other jewellery designers decided to form a collective as an initiative to collaborate on various projects and exhibitions. Placing a high emphasis on the realisation of modern concepts using traditional techniques, we also aim to work with and promote selected other emerging local artists / designers.

We are pleased to announce that we will be hosting a Pop-Up Store to coincide with London Jewellery Week between 7 - 13 June 2012 at 38 Monmouth Street, Seven Dials Covent Garden.

Come to the opening night on the 7th of June to browse new and never before seen collections from myself and four other talented jewellers and take advantage of the 10% discount off all jewellery which is valid exclusively on that evening.

Wow. It’s like she took all the “He loves me” petal from a “He loves me; He loves me not” flower, turned them into silver and stuck them on a ring…..Wow.

New Treasures

I’ve just uploaded lots of new things on Boticca, like the above pictured Encrusted Coral rings (available in black or silver), the Skin On Skin ring (a new addition to the We Were Here series), and a few Encrusted Stacking Sets

Multiples for Heidi Lowe Gallery, USA

You can now see images of all the pieces from Multiples on my facebook page.

Multiples is a series of earrings I created especially for the sixth annual exhibition of the same title at Heidi Lowe Gallery in Delaware, USA.

From furnishings and surfaces found at home, Guitar Hero jam sessions with friends to my corner shop quality ping pong bats, these wearable keepsakes are like hard copies of the past few months of my life narrated through a series of textures.

See if you can guess which texture is what!

Guy Archard

Some images from my boyfriend’s latest series of portraits were featured on Boom today :)

Have a look at his website for more lovely photography.

Studio Fludd

Italian collective Studio Fludd was created by a group of young artists and designers who produce varying works across the creative field. Their blog is always a joy to read, showcasing captivating photographs of inspirations and work in progress.

I was drawn to these soft colours on geometric wooden shapes, which are part of their Spring collection of home decor and jewellery. You can buy their creations on their online shop and on Etsy.

Weekend Outfit Muse: Colorado River

YSL Waterproof Cream Eyeshadow in Pink Sands (was £20 now £13) from Debenhams / Sue Devitt Lipstick in Bali Shimmer (Red $20) / Striped Jumper with Contrasting Cable Knit Sleeves ($12) from Stylenanda.com / Faux Reptile Handbag (£22.75) from Forever21 / Leather-look Pencil Skirt (£19.99) from Dressrail.com / Chanel Nail Polish (£11.75) in Orange Fizz from Debenhams / Lee Angel Chain Bracelet (was $65 now $39) from Charmandchain.com / Suede Desert Wedges (was $36.94 now $22.50) from Old Navy

I came across this beautiful picture of the Horseshoe Bend in Grand Canyon’s Colorado River and couldn’t resist picking out the lovely colours. Really liking contrasting textures and materials in tops and outerwear at the moment, to pair with maxi or pencil skirts, so I was really happy when I found the stripy jumper with cable knit sleeves from Stylenanda.com for only US$12 (a Korean online shop with amazing steals! If you haven’t been yet you have to take a peek..)

Having concentrated all my efforts and piggy bank contents of late towards developing my new ready-to-wear collection, let’s just say I haven’t had much of a chance to indulge the shopping monster within. Thankfully sites like Pinterest and Nuji keep my withdrawal symptoms at bay… but for how long we shall see.

ffiXXed

ffiXXed is a collaborative art / fashion design project conceived by Kain Picken and Fiona Lau in Berlin, 2008.

Print and colour, check.

Beautiful tailoring, check.

Easy to wear, check.

All the things that make me happy in a garment.

ffiXXed transforms the everyday comfort and functionality of simple clothing into new and exciting (but still clean and minimal) shapes.

I particularly love the cartographic-like prints on their ‘Less World’ shirts, reminds me of a collage of maps, terrains, the sky; all things earthly and elemental.
